Loving the city and the people,

has always been what Toast Maker stands for.

Reflecting the city development brought by the foundation of locomotive era in Malaysia.

The locomotive era refers to a significant period in history when locomotives powered by steam played a central role in transportation and industrial development. This era spanned roughly from the early 19th century to the mid-20th century. During the locomotive era, steam locomotives were the primary mode of transportation on railways. They enabled the efficient movement of goods and people over long distances at faster speeds than previously possible.

In Malaysian history, th locomotive era played a crucial role in the development of the country's transportation infrastructure and economic growth. The introduction of steam locomotives in the late 19th century revolutionized Malaysia's transportation system and facilitated the movement of goods and people across the country. The development of the railway network expanded rapidly, connecting major towns and cities in the peninsula, such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Singapore. Railways played a vital role in supporting the booming tin mining industry, rubber plantations, and other agricultural sectors. They facilitated the transportation of these valuable commodities to ports for export, contributing to Malaysia's economic development.

Refering to urban development, KL Central represents the transition from traditional steam locomotives to modern forms of transportation. While steam locomotives were once the primary mode of transportation in Malaysia, KL Central reflects the evolution and advancement of transportation technology. During the locomotive era, the area around KL Central was primarily associated with railway operations and transportation-related activities. However, with the development of Nu Sentral, the area evolved into a bustling shopping destination, catering to the needs of both locals and tourists. Nu Sentral represents the transformation of the surrounding area into a vibrant commercial and retail hub that bring life to the city like never before.

Despite the decline of steam locomotives, the legacy of the locomotive era in Malaysia remains significant as not only that it sets the root for modern development while the railways built during this time also continue to serve as important transportation arteries, connecting different regions of the country.

As a local brand, Toast Maker intend to tribute to the urban development of Malaysia through working with a commercial design firm, Adaptive Design Matrix Development (ADMD) to make the concept publicly appreciated. As the team believe, ADMD is one of the most creative design firm for cafe and various commercial projects. Hence, we commision the design of this flagship store to ADMD. In this case, the reflection of locomotion in a futuristic interior presentation, tributes to both urban planning and technology advancement for all mankind is being achieved in a most sensible way.
